play-based & child-led supports

play-based
Play-based support is an approach to therapies and intervention that intertwines play into learning. We learn best when we are engaged in something we love and play is a huge source of learning and development for children. Play-based supports focus on creating opportunities to learn and achieve specific goals through playing games, with toys, engaging in pretend play and even video games.
child-led
Child-led supports focus on allowing the child or teenager to guide how the session is directed and the therapist taking opportunities within the session to provide targeted supports. This may look like scaffolding or modelling specific language. By allowing the child to lead the session, they can develop a sense of autonomy and control, rather than being told what to do or how to do it.
